MEET KRIS BECKER

Becker came to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to study piano with Professor Ian Hobson. Fortunately, much of his education was paid for through scholarship assistance and his hard work and dedication helped prepare him for a fulfilling career in music. Becker is grateful for having received the Gertrude Weber Gassmann Scholarship. It not only lightened his financial burden, but gave him greater confidence in his ability to perform.

WHAT HE SAYS

“I am passionate about my music and strive relentlessly to become a more excellent musician,” said Becker. “This award gave me even more incentive to develop my God-given abilities to the highest degree.” And of UIS, “I continually discover more wonderful reasons that this is the right place for me, and the Gassmann Award is certainly one of those.”
