MEET THE HILLS

Richard S. Hill and his wife, Mrs. Loan Hill, are supporters of the UIC College of Engineering. Richard, who is chairman and CEO of Novellus Systems, is a 1974 graduate of the UIC College of Engineering and a 1983 M.B.A. from Syracuse University. Novellus Systems is a top maker of semiconductor production equipment with chip giants such as Samsung Electronics, Intel and IBM among its customers. Named a College of Engineering Outstanding Alumni in 2002, Rick Hill serves UIC and the University of Illinois in three important ways. He is a member of the College of Engineering Advisory Board, a member of the UIC chancellor's Technology Board, and member of the University of Illinois Foundation, where he also serves on the Board of Directors.

HOW THEY GAVE

The couple recently created three  professorships in the UIC College of Engineering. The first two Richard and Loan Hill Professorships of Engineering in the University of Illinois at Chicago were awarded in April 2005 to Professor Ahmed Shabana, a professor of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and Professor Ouri Wolfson, a professor in the Computer Science Department.
